Our Coral Reef Cage Has been Transplanted

Reefscapers Coral Propagation Project at Four Seasons Resorts Maldives has informed us that your own piece of reef we told you about in our story We Build Our Own Reef Cage has now been transplanted.

You can monitor the progress of our reef on their website www.marinesavers.com, by clicking on ‘Reefscapers’ tab, then choose Coral Frame Collection.

To view the coral species and recent photographs of your frame(s), please enter the following information:

  • Location: Landaa Giraavaru
  • Frame Number: LG1809

The website also features the history of the project, as well as the latest updates and findings.

Usually we see the first signs of coral growth within a month after transplanting, during which time fish and invertebrates will start to use the new habitat as a place to live, hide and find food.

Our coral frame will be scientifically monitored by Reefscapers and the data collected will directly contribute to our ongoing research into this pioneering technique of reef regeneration.

We hope you might consider sponsoring your own reef as well as enjoying the progress of ours.
