Visiting the Princess Yachts facility last week we were privileged to be given a sneak preview of the all new Princess X95 Superfly
In establishing a new class of yacht the builder has set out to re-write the rules of yacht architecture.
Much in the same way as the Jaguar and Bentley motor car brands have had to embrace a new market keen to own a Range Rover-like SUV, so Princess have had to re invent the large motor yacht and give it that SUV appeal.
The X95 sets out to establish a new Superfly X Class, re-imagining the concept of a flybridge yacht with extensive outdoor space and innovative segmentation of interior rooms and decks.
The radically different design redefines space and architecture in yachts, delivering a unique boating lifestyle and experience at sea.
Developed in collaboration with Princess Yachts’ long-standing naval architect, Bernard Olesinski, working together with the Italian design house Pininfarina, the new hull evolves from the builders the deep-V concept to provide 15% improved efficiency with outstanding stability.
The brand-new Princess X95 is conceived like no other vessel before. Where the recently-announced Y85 sets a new benchmark for classic motor yacht design and the ground-breaking R35 challenges the perceived limits of performance, comfort and handling in a yacht, the X95 re-defines the practical potential and lifestyle options aboard with a complete re-think of yacht architecture.
Designed with an open concept in mind, the yacht is the first model in Princess Yachts’ new X Class. Challenged with setting a new standard of layout excellence, which is defined by large, adaptable spaces that can be used and formatted in numerous ways, it offers the owner and guests a uniquely flexible boating lifestyle.
Walking through the mock up of the yacht we found her spatial lay-out is instantly highly practical and user friendly.
The interior design allows the owner to define each journey around their guests’ preferences – comfortable and relaxing, high levels of privacy, or entertaining and hosting, for example.
The yacht has yet to begun construction and it will not be until this time next year that the first hull is launched yet amazingly the first 8 units of this yacht have already been sold.
Powered by two MAN V12 engines, the X95 has a maximum speed range of 24-26 knots†. With a fuel capacity of 13,400 litres, the X95 has been created with far-reaching adventurous voyages in mind.
One of six brand new Princess models recently announced that build on record financial results, benefiting from intensive investment in new technologies and design commitment the X95 is surely set to become the SUV of the sea.
