Paper and cotton swabs impact the environment because they are single-use.
The average person goes through hundreds of cotton swabs each year.
These cotton swabs get produced, warehoused, shipped, purchased, used, and discarded. During this process, the use of raw materials and the CO2 created are harmful to the environment. These processes become unnecessary when you commit to using reusable products which you can use thousands.
The Cleaning Alternative
LastSwab is a sanitary, reusable alternative to single-use swabs that can be cleaned using soap and warm water.

The swab ends are made of Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE), a copolymers of plastic and a rubber. The rod is made of plastic, and the biodegradable case is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources which in this case is corn. A bamboo box was considered, but since this is a product that needs to be hygienic, the Danish product designers Nicolas Aagaard, Isabel Aagaardand and Kåre Frandsen have chosen a biodegradable corn-based material that can be sterilised.
When creating a product to last for thousands of uses, durability is key. LastSwab replaces thousands of single-use cotton swabs. Even if it does end up in the ocean, it’s damage is less than 0.1% of its single-use counterparts, simply because there will be much less of them.

LastSwab has been tested to stand up to 1000 uses. But be warned there are a lot of cheap, fake copies out there, and they are usually of a very low quality.
Available in two versions the Beauty version uses a smooth well angles contoured end as a makeup remover to take off excess mascara on their eyelids.
The LastSwab Standard features a more traditional shape on both ends and each tip is equipped with small bristles.
While I have yet to get hold of one myself for testing it does seem like a good idea to free your life from single-use cotton swabs, and enjoy the warm feeling of being part of the solution!
