Gocycle GS a Winner with Yacht Crew

Gocycle

When Richard Thorpe left a jolly good job working for McLaren Cars to design and build electric bikes everything though he was nuts.  After years of perfecting his dream, he finally found vindication when his GoCycle G1 became the superyacht Captain’s bike of choice and began to appear in the garages of several large yachts.

His product became better with the second generation G2 and was perfected with the G3, a top end electric bike built of lightweight magnesium that is ergonomic, elegant, lightweight, ingenious fun and a talking point wherever it is seen on the docks.

They say you can’t re-invent the wheel or improve the design of the bicycle but in creating the new Gocycle GS, aimed at yacht crew the bike builder has done both.  The GS is an entry level version Gocycle designed to complement the premium G3 model. The new model builds on the core lightweight, clean design and versatility DNA, but does so at a more accessible price point.

Superyacht Tenders & Toys are making that price point even more attractive by offering individual crew members, whose yachts are already SYT&T customers, an additional 5% off the list price of €2,350 before tax.

No cables, no chains, no gears, sprockets, or oil – no mess means that the Gocycle GS can be taken anywhere.  Weighing just 16 kilos it can even be stowed inside the average crew cabin given its size and portability.  The streamlined chassis and removable pitstop wheels make cleaning fast and easy.  No other e-bike has the versatile dynamics of Gocycle GS.

Crew are buying the bike to give themselves personal freedom, with many using it to go to the beach for their day off, or even to pick up their morning coffee when they have to go ashore on an errand.

A bespoke front-hub motor separates the powered drive from the pedal drive.

Lighter and providing better front/rear weight distribution, this system also provides powerful advantages when traffic lights go green.  Conventional e-bikes use derailleur gears, which can leave even experienced cyclists in the wrong gear at the lights.

Not only does Gocycle’s predictive electronic gear shift ensure that you are never in the wrong gear, the front hub drive never can be and that makes sure you always make a clean getaway.

The Gocycle GS model comes in a wide range of two tone colour combinations. It features torque sensing, direct mechanical shifting and a bespoke oversized handlebar design.

It is compatible with all of Gocycle’s own designed integrated accessories such as mudguards, lights, front and rear panniers, and an integrated lock holder. A portable docking station is also available.

The GS is also compatible with the GocycleConnect App, which, once downloaded onto a smart phone, provides customised driving modes as well as providing interesting health statistics such as calories burned, maximum and average pedal power.

Mark Peak of Superyacht Tenders & Toys says, “With its sporty feel and peppy performance, the GS makes commuting, dockwalking, or getting exercise fun and enjoyable for crew and because they are portable for easy transport or storing in tight living spaces we are expecting to sell quite a few to individual yacht crew.”
