Resolute Cruises into New Pastures for 2019
Best known for its small-ship expedition cruises in the polar regions, One Ocean Expeditions (OOE) has announced that it will be venturing in to yet more of the world’s remote destinations in 2019. The announcement comes in the wake of the expansion of the company’s fleet in this, its 10th anniversary year, to include RCGS Resolute, a purpose-built expedition vessel ideally suited for exploring these remote and historically rich regions.
First RCGS Resolute Non-Polar Expedition Heads to Chilean Fjords, 31 March – 13 April 2019
The first voyage of the new programme, and the inaugural non-polar expedition on board RCGS Resolute, will venture into the maze of inlets and islands of the dramatic Chilean Fjords, immediately after the last cruise of the Antarctic season. The 13-night Chilean adventure from Ushuaia, Argentina to Valparaiso, Chile, travels along an extraordinary coastline and is one of the Earth’s last great wilderness regions, the vast Patagonian ice sheet, the third largest ice mass on the planet. Prices start from US$5,695.00 pp sharing a triple cabin and from US$6,995 pp sharing a twin cabin, both with en-suite.
Central America – Home to seven (7%) percent of the entire world’s biodiversity, OOE ventures into warm Central American waters, with an increased focus on active discovery. OOE’s two new itineraries offer the perfect combination of wildlife viewing with local guides, relaxation and numerous activities, all included in the voyage fare.
Central America Adventure – Costa Rica & the Panama Canal, 23 April – 2 May 2019
Costa Rica alone has over 840 identified species of birds and more than a quarter of the country is protected national park land, making this 9-night voyage perfect for eco-tourists and naturalists alike. The itinerary features exotic rainforests, white sand beaches, tangled mangroves and coral reefs, as local guides showcase some of the world’s most diverse wildlife, from howler monkeys to scarlet macaws and endemic species not found anywhere else. Ten days, two countries, three protected national parks and a wealth of experiences; the trip culminates in a journey through the historic Panama Canal, one of the modern wonders of the world. Prices start from US$3,995 pp sharing a triple cabin and from US$5,295 pp sharing a twin cabin, both with en-suite.
Central America Explorer – Panama to Mexico, 2 – 11 May 2019
Travellers interested in cultural diversity will be drawn to this expedition cruise from Colon to Cozumel, which visits 6 countries, a plethora of exotic islands and several indigenous communities during the course of 10 days. The clear waters and pristine environs of Panama’s San Blas Islands, Columbia’s UNESCO World Heritage site of old Cartagena, the unspoilt Nicaraguan islands of Miskito Cays and Punta Sal National Park in Honduras, home to hiking trails, secluded beaches and the Garifuna community, are all highlights. Idyllic Turneffe, the largest atoll in Belize and a national marine reserve, is the final high spot of the cruise before it drops anchor in Cozumel, Mexico. Prices start from US$3,995 pp sharing a triple cabin and from US$5,295 pp sharing a twin cabin, both with en-suite.
Central America Uncovered – For intrepid guests wanting a more in-depth, immersive Central American experience, the Adventure and Explorer itineraries above can be booked back to back, whereby guests can utilise the generous One Club alumni travel benefits, which can be combined with current travel incentives, offering savings of up to US$2,000.00.
Islands of the North Atlantic – Experience the extension of OOE’s traditional expedition programming, whilst following in the footsteps of Vikings and Gaels in some of the most remote islands in the world. Explore the dramatic coastlines of Scotland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands and immerse yourself in the regions’ culture and ancient history, through hiking, photography, zodiac cruising and sea kayaking (pre-booked).
Scotland, the Faroe Islands & Iceland, 12 – 23 June 2019, Edinburgh to Reykjavik
OOE’s 11-night voyage exploring the history of Vikings and Gaels in some of the most stunning islands of the North Atlantic is a must for amateur ornithologists and lovers of wildlife. Naturalists will identify the golden eagles soaring over the dramatic, rugged scenery of Scotland and its islands, where tens of thousands of seabirds also make their home. Guests can zodiac cruise along the rocky volcanic islands of the Faroes which boast the world’s largest colony of storm petrels, along with famous turf-roofed houses and spectacular waterfalls. The more adventurous may prefer to sea kayak alongside whales, dolphins and seals in the shallow fjords of Iceland or Trek to glaciers, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields in the endless days of June, when there is more than 20 hours of daylight. Prices start from US$5,695 pp sharing a triple cabin and from US$7,095 pp sharing a twin cabin, both with en-suite.
