Lürssen appoints Michael Koppstein as US Promoter

For the last 25 years Michael Koppstein has been the face and name people associate with Royal Huisman for whom he worked as commercial and technical representative in the Americas.

Now he has change hats and will in future enhance the value of the Lürssen brand in the same geographical arena.

Australian by birth Koppstein has logged some 200,000 nautical miles at sea starting with offshore regattas and culminating in an extensive 4-year circumnavigation whilst working as a captain.

Koppstein served a brief tenure with Ron Holland Design before accepting an invitation from Wolter and Alice Huisman in 1992 to become the Royal Huisman yard’s technical and commercial representative in the USA.

In his new role Koppstein will help Lürssen to bridge the distance between the shipyard in Bremen, Germany and the important US market.

Lürssen has an international reputation as a specialist in exclusive, bespoke yachts of outstanding quality. Founded in 1875, the shipyard remains solely owned and operated by the Lürssen family, now in their fourth generation.

With a dedicated workforce of some 2,700 shipbuilders, technicians and tradespeople, the Lürssen group has eight shipyard facilities in Bremen-Aumund, Lemwerder, Berne, Rendsburg, Wilhelmshaven, Wolgast and two yards in Hamburg. Headquartered in Bremen, it recently acquired the yacht building arm of Blohm & Voss.
