The 57.5m Dutch-built Lady Mona K, a yacht best remembered in history as Lady Ghislaine has come onto the market for the first time in 20 years.

She joins the fleet of yachts for sale through Camper & Nicholson and is listed with their Jean-Marie Récamier who has stated, “She is a top pedigree motor yacht presents herself in immaculate condition following a 2014 refit.”

Revolutionary superyacht at the time of her build, she was originally designed and built by Amels in 1986 for the now disgraced press baron Robert Maxwell who named her after his youngest child: Ghislaine.

Maxwell an experienced owner was at the time of the build looking for the most spectacular yacht to cruise the seas, and it came as a shock to those who knew him when his body was found floating in the sea off the coast of the Canary Islands in 1991.

Few believed he had fallen overboard despite a verdict of death by accidental drowning being recorded.

Ghislaine Maxwell is on record as having said that she believes her father was murdered, adding that, “He did not commit suicide. That was just not consistent with his character. I think he was murdered.”

After his death, Robert Maxwell was found to have fraudulently appropriated the pension assets of his Mirror Group Newspapers to support its share price and was disgraced.

Custom-built by Amels B.V. Holland, the yacht boasts timeless exterior styling and a classic yet modern interior designed by John Bannenberg.

Inside, she benefits from a stunning observation lounge forward of the upper deck. With glass paneling spanning three of the four sides, this space is filled with natural light offering the most exceptional panoramic views. Aft of this level is a spacious main saloon, which leads out onto an aft deck with exterior seating arrangements.

With accommodation on board for a total of 12 guests in six staterooms, the main deck houses the owner’s suite which boasts it’s own lobby, his and hers bathrooms, a dressing area and an owner’s study. Forward of the main deck is one twin cabin and the remaining four cabins are on the lower deck, all of which are en suite doubles.

One of the yachts best features is her split level sun deck which offers a Jacuzzi surrounded by plush sunbathing cushions, and a gymnasium with sauna and steam shower forward that also benefits from panoramic views and can either be covered or totally open.

Twin 1051kW Caterpillar engines power Lady Mona K to cruise efficiently at 13 knots and reach a maximum speed of 16 knots.
