The South West region of the British Marine Federation has set up the first student to business networking event to take place at the London Boat Show. The “Students meet Business” event will take place on Tuesday 7th January 2014.
The event is designed to enable University and Further Education students to experience the diversity of jobs and opportunities available in the marine industry.
Over 50 students from colleges in the south west on courses including marine science, engineering, yacht business and boat building have already signed up to take part.
The students will be welcomed at the Excel Exhibition Centre with the reception hosted by the British Marine Federation.
Volunteer business ambassadors from the BMF SW will then introduce the students to key people in the industry, enabling the students to experience the range and diversity of careers available.
These include:

- Port operations,
- Equipment manufacturing and engineering
- Marine tourism
- Chartering
- Sales and brokerage
- Marina management
- Superyacht crewing
- Legal
- HR
- Sales and marketing
