For superyachts docked in Viareggio February is the month of Carnival.
Said to be the most flamboyant of all the Italian Carnivals the event in Viareggio is famous for its political satire it hosts the traditional shows of gigantic paper-maché figures on colourful floats and provides fun for all ages.
It starts in the very early part of the month with a competition to find the official song that will be used throughout carnival month and from that moment on there is something happening for everybody to take part in.
Swimming galas, international football tournaments for youngsters and a national bikers meeting are just some of the events. Of course there are also comic theatre presentations in our own local dialect. Do not worry about not speaking the lingo, the meaning and the comedy is clear to all who watch.
