Future of Super Yacht Marinas and Refit Centres

Conference on Super yacht Marinas and Refit facilities to take place in Malta

A conference that looks at the future of Super yacht Marinas and Refit facilities around the world is to take taking place in Malta on October 20th and 21st 2009

The choice of Malta is not altogether strange given that the creation of new marina berths forms part of the islands governmental policy to grow the country as a regional superyacht centre. The government is at the same time seeking to dispose of the refit facilities that it owns but seems to be making a meal of it by extending the time for the bidding process to be completed.

The conference is a new international event is another in a series of super yacht events being organized by Quaynote who are targeting the global marina community with a real emphasis on networking and debate. Key speakers are expected to include:

Sam Bourne, of the Yacht Harbour Association, Dr. Austin Gatt, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport & Communication, Government of Malta, Nick Maris, of Camper & Nicholsons. Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, the Hon Mario de Marco will attend as will Steve Malley of Intertrust, Paul Miller, of Underwriting Risk Services and Steve English of marina operators IGY. The conference programme will be hosted at the Phoenicia Hotel, Valletta, Malta
