Super Yachts Visiting Italy to Suffer Delay

Bad News for Captains with non European Crews

Super yacht Captains visiting Italian ports are likely to see bureaucratic red tape increased even more than is the norm during the period of the central Italian region of Abruzzo hosting the next summit of G8 leaders.

Ships agent Francesco Luise of J. Luise & Sons Ltd
has been informed by the Immigration Office in the Port of Naples that because of the G8 Summit, Italy will be temporarily considered to be an extra Schengen country; for security reasons, from 28th June 2009 to 15th July 2009. Clearance procedures will as a result be more time consuming and will also require the full checking of all passports, regardless of nationality.
