Aboard a Canal Boat not a Super Yacht

This week Michael and I have swapped 42 metres for 42 feet. We are cruising in the Garonne Valley from Montauban to le Mas-d’Agenais aboard a canal boat courtesy of Le Boat

What a fabulous part of France. It is quiet and peaceful with hardly any other tourists and virtually no one else on the canal. Perhaps we should keep it secret!

Our mission is to write a feature for Motorboat Monthly Magazine about our trip reporting on the gastronomic delights of the area. You have to feel sorry for us having to sample all those wonderful local delicacies and quaff the odd glass or three of vin.

We arrived a couple of days before we joined the boat, so we had a chance to explore Montauban and the surrounding countryside. Wow, we were all knocked out by the beauty of the area and the friendliness of the people.

Tonight we are staying in Moissac and will be eating ashore at Le Pont Napoleon a highly recommended restaurant on the banks of the adjacent River Tarn.

Tomorrow our destination is Valence-d’Agen where there is a morning market. I hope to find something special for dinner aboard the boat and some more of the delicious local cherries which are currently in season.
