Noss Mayo

The village of Noss Mayo is about 10 miles east of the city of Plymouth, south-west of the village of Yealmpton and Superyachts can easily arrive there by sea using the tender.

Noss Mayo lies on the south side of the Yealm estuary with Newton Ferrers to the north. The estuary is quite stunning, surrounded by rolling wooded hills, with the lower trees dipping their branches into its tidal waters. It is also very well protected from the storms of the Channel and the Atlantic, making it ideal sailing waters for both novices and weathered captains!

The village enjoys lovely views over the estuary and our favourite pub, the Ship Inn is used by visitors and locals all year round.

Award Winning Pub

It is an award winning waterside pub that has been completely renovated using reclaimed materials, English oak, local stone, and lots of love and affection.

The décor style is strong yet simple, spacious yet cosy; it feels like a proper pub, unfussy, uncomplicated but pleasingly functional.

It offers the chance to eat good, fresh, homemade food and drink great beers and interesting wines, whilst surrounded by wooden floors, old furniture, log fires, bookcases and dozens of local pictures.

When it comes to food the Ship Inn at Noss Mayo has a wide selection of delicious meals from the bar or à la carte menu. You can choose to sit anywhere from the cosy panelled library room or enjoy a delightful waterside table.

The menu changes daily and features much local produce but the menu you can read here is fairly typical and is available from 12:00 midday until 21:30 daily.

Children are always made welcome

We love beer and the cellar has a good range of regional and local beers. When you know who brewed it somehow it tastes better! Their main beer comes from Summerskill’s just down the road, supported by beers from Princetown Breweries on Dartmoor and others who share our pleasure in beer

In Noss Mayo there are also a number of local shops, including a baker, butcher, post office and chemist.

The local sailing school has an excellent reputation, there is nearby boat hire and for the less energetic there are great crabbing locations and lots of short walks.
