Paul a lawyer approaching retirement, and Jolanta a teacher working in a bank decided to quit the rat race and build a new life together.

In 2010 they started renovating two tumble down wineries in a privileged location in Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy and created Les Deux Chevres a delightful hotel whose creature comforts we can attest to.

The original wine press dating from 1863 was found on the property and has been renovated, and re instated. Around the press there are vintage charts for 100 years of Gevrey vintages from 1863 to 1963.

Beneath the property are ancient vaulted wine cellars.

With over 600 hectares of vines, 27 Premier Cru and 9 Grand Cru wines, on its doorstep it is located within the largest and one of the best known wine producing communes in Burgundy.

On the Route des Grands Crus, 12 km south of Dijon, in the heart of the Grands Crus vineyards of Burgundy.

By Train Dijon is just 1.5 hours from Paris Gare de Lyon by TGV.   With an early flight from Heathrow or Gatwick to Paris CDG, or the 07.01 TGV from St Pancras, it is possible to leave London at 07.00 and be in Dijon in time for lunch.

Driving from Calais to the south of France, Gevrey Chambertin is approximately half way, and an ideal ‘Half Way House’ stop-over.

Driving from Calais to the Alps, with an early morning departure from Les Deux Chevres, the slopes are easily accessible to get the benefit of half a day’s skiing.   Similarly on the return trip, leaving an Alpine ski resort at lunchtime, means an additional morning’s skiing, leaving a day’s travel back to the UK.1458028327233
