Captains Award Dinner by Fraser

awards

Every year the Fraser Captains Awards Dinner gets more lavish.  Held at the Monaco Yacht Club last nights event was the biggest and most spectacular of the all.

Impresario Liza Peck the Director of Global Market at the firm was in strong charge and had organised stunning pre awards entertainment including beautiful but briefly clad stilt walkers, singers and laser shows.  A DJ compared the dance floor, there were side shows of entertainment and the drinks flowed freely from sponsored bars.

After the awards a sumptuous dinner was served from various locations on the ball room deck to ensure everyone was well fed as well as well watered

Party goers clearly enjoyed the evening which has become a popular fixture in the Monaco Yacht Show events calendar.  But clearly they are putting the event into danger but taking and not giving.

For those who organise the event and more importantly for those who win this is a big moment and one to be cherished and enjoyed so it was sad to see those presenting and those receiving getting drowned out by the sound of party going guests who clearly had no idea or interest in why they were attending.

For those who won their victory was slightly spoiled by this and that is a shame

The winners never the less put a brave face on it and the three Captains who picked up prizes were clearly delighted and rather chuffed

Captain Mattie Dzaja and his crew of the sailing yacht O’hanawon the prize for the best charter yacht under 50 metres.

Captain Ferdinando Tarquini of the Explorer Yacht Force Bluewas next up on stage.  He and his crew snagged a bagful of prizes donated by generous sponsors when he won the award for the Best Charter yacht over 50 metres.

The luckiest man in the awards line up was Captain Alex Aslou of Bacchus who won Captain of the year award.  Among the many prizes he won were

  • A track experience from Porche
  • A Garman watch from Pantaenius2 Weeks free berthing at Port Adriano
  • A Basketful of goodies from Sagreati
  • A Magnum of Mirabeau Vinyards from VSK.

If that were not enough he walked off with a Ujets electric scooter presented to him by Hugues Despree of Ujets

Awards presented, Alex rose to his feet to give a speech about teamwork but his efforts went unheard.  The bars were open the food was being served and everyone was frightened that they would not get any.

What a shame
