Starship Squares the Circle
Talk about squaring the circle, the yacht broker handling the sale of the 43.59 metre Starship is none other than Mark Elliott who once served as the yachts Captain.
IYC is co-listing the yacht built by Dutch yard Van Mill in 1988 with Chamberlain Yachts and together they have the yacht for sale at US $5,950,000
Because he knows her so well, buyers will be able to benefit from Mark’s unrivalled knowledge of this beautiful vessel.
“I had the great honour of naming Starship (ex Almaviva), building the helicopter pad and turning her into a great charter yacht,” says Mark. “Having spent over three years on board visiting incredible locations in the Bahamas, Caribbean and New England, flying the helicopter off Starship and being her captain was one of the highlights of my life!”
With a proven charter history and layout that is perfectly suited to charter groups, Starship represents an excellent investment for owners seeking a yacht that can command a busy charter schedule. Having undergone a huge $14 million refit in 2006, which included a full new interior and all-new systems, Starship has been maintained with huge attention to detail and the care of a passionate crew.
Other work has included new Quantum Zero-Speed stabilisers in 2010, a $2 million refit that included an exterior paint job and interior refresh in 2015, and most recently a $300,000 maintenance program in 2017.
Powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B engines, she cruises at 13 knots with a maximum speed of 17 knots. A shallow draught of 2.3m paired with a Jet Drive allows Starshipeasy access to almost every destination and anchorage without restriction.
She has proven her seagoing credentials with previous travels including five Atlantic crossings, and for the adventurous of spirit she also carries a huge collection of toys and tenders. A bonus feature is the helipad on the bridgedeck, allowing guests to arrive and depart with ease.
Starshipboasts a beautiful interior that makes use of exquisite marbles, rich polished woods and rich soft furnishings. Her impressive large main foyer, with its marble floors and spiral staircase, sets the tone for the rest of the yacht, with its large and generous spaces and classic styling. This entrance point leads into the main salon, home to amenities including several sofas and leather chairs, coffee tables and a bar, all set off by high and wide windows and details including impressive marble columns.
A second foyer is located aft on the main deck and provides yet more space to welcome guests into the yacht with beautiful artworks and seating. A circular dining space with round table for formal dining is located forward of the main deck and includes large surrounding windows that provide enviable views. Moving upwards the skylounge is a beautiful spot to retreat to with plenty of casual seating and a bar, making it the perfect spot to either relax, read or enjoy pre or post dinner aperitifs.
Starshipfeatures five cabins for 12 guests, and accommodation for up to 10 crew. The master stateroom is particularly impressive with a separate lounge space to complement the King bed and ensuite. Other accommodation includes the VIP stateroom, also with lounge sofa, two King staterooms and a twin, all with impeccable styling.
Exterior spaces are also large and welcoming and include a full dining set up on the upper aft deck, more dining space on the aft deck, a flybridge with lounge seating and a Jacuzzi and sunloungers on the foredeck. A generous swim platform is the perfect space for guests of all ages to enjoy time in the water from, with yet more soft seating to relax on as well.
The 30 year old Starship has been listed at a very attractive price and with impressive volume she offers a huge amount of yacht for the asking price when compared to other yachts of her size and age.
