Pushing the boundaries while harnessing exceptional sail power and system technologies Royal Huisman is to build a no-compromise 59.7m high performance sloop with retractable propulsion units.

Bidding to create the ultimate world performance cruising sloop Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design have drawn the lines of this advanced sloop rigged superyacht that will radically push the boundaries of operating systems and integrated rig technologies to set new benchmarks for performance and efficiency.

The result, to be launched sometime in 2022, is expected to be a sleek and powerful sailing yacht of iconic, imaginative design, which will marry unprecedented performance with luxurious and innovative amenities.

Known currently as Project 404 the Alustar aluminium hull and low profile carbon composite superstructure will pushing the boundaries by providing a proven structural platform for a truly modern yacht with a wealth of innovative systems developments.

By embracing powerful emerging technologies that will become game changers for the next generation of superyachts, the aim is to optimise every aspect of this project – leaving no technological stone unturned.

Malcolm McKeon has been pushing the boundaries in the superyacht industry for over 30 years.  His portfolio includes more than 200 sailing and motor yachts, 50 of them in excess of 30m in length. Malcolm’s inspirational conceptual work, space planning, exterior styling and construction have reaped multiple international design awards.

Overseeing the project is Gregory Monks, the Owner’s representative a man with a wealth of experience.  He says, “The cast of players is as expert, innovative and respected as might be expected of such a project: Naval Architecture and exterior design by the renowned Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design; Interior Architecture by acclaimed French design house Liaigre; Integrated Rig Package from Southern Spars complimented by Rondal captive winches; in-house engineering and build by Royal Huisman.” 

The Dutch based shipyard has two other projects in build currently.  The first is an 81metre schooner sailing yacht, to be delivered in 2020, and the second; a 55metre motoryacht, to be delivered in 2021.
