Investors from Azerbaijan are behind plans to create a new Luxury waterfront development within sight of Porto Montenegro.
Using British based Marina Projects Ltd in the role of marina consultant, Azmont Investments plan to develop the former Army Barracks that once also served as a Seaplane base, into a 250 berth marina with berths up to 75m, a VIP yacht club and helipad, and dedicated pier for visiting super yachts and boutique cruise ships.
To be called Portonovi, the complex is located within the Bay of Boka Kotorska and lies just 4km to the west of Porto Montenegro.
The marina will share with Porto Montenegro excellent access to the cruising grounds of the Adriatic and beyond and will appeal as both a homeport and visitor destination.
Marina Projects’ Jeff Houlgrave commented, “We will be working as part of an international, multi-disciplinary team, led by architects Harper Downie. From our experience in the region and further afield as consultants in marina construction and management, we are able to bring a unique design perspective to marina.”
Construction is due to begin at the end of November 2013 on the 60-acre project with completion planned for 2016
The resort will feature:

- An ultra-luxury One&Only resort
- A destination wellness spa
- A luxury beach club
- An arena and conference centre
- A tennis academy
In addition there will be waterfront shops, cafes and restaurants, botanical gardens with biodiversity and eco-park, plus a fish market and organic food market.
