Nikon Lenses and iPad Stolen in Tenerife

3601643914_a098c871e5_zWe enjoyed our time hiking in the mountains yesterday until 1830 at which time I simply felt sick and devastated.   That was when we discovered the theft of my camera bag with all my lenses and sundry equipment, my wallet with all my credit cards and cash and my iPad, stolen from the locked boot of our hire car.

We know it must have happened around 1800 on Sunday 19th April 2015.  We had left the car for literally 10 minutes whilst we walked up to take a photograph from Paradores at Canadas del Tiede. Items were stolen from the boot of our hire car, a Citroen Elysee registration number 0722 HYM rented from Canarias.com.

The following list contains the items I can currently be sure were stolen:

Think Tank Camera bag containing the following:

  • Nikon AF Fisheye NIKKOR 16mm f/2.8D Lens. Serial No. 601547
  • Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED Lens. Serial No. L5016449
  • Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens. Serial No. 213096
  • Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens. Serial No. 20034733
  • Nikon SB-900 Speedlight Flash Unit. Serial No. 2127640
  • Nikon TC-17E II (1.7x) Teleconverter AF-S. Serial No. 305032
  • Nikon 77mm circular polar II filter
  •  Yellow Holder containing 4 SanDisk Compact Flash Cards
  • 2 x graduated and reverse graduated filters plus cokin holder

The thief left behind my walking backpack having gone through it and stolen:

  • Purse containing about €200, £30, credit cards, driving license, PADI cards and professional ID

From a third bag they took:

  • Apple iPad Air 2 128gb
  • Serial No. DLXNK1SXG5W3

We are now very concerned about the security of the car which lacks any alarm and is very clearly marked as a hire car which must have had a strong influence on it targeting as nothing was left visible in the car.

The only vaguely good news was my actual camera with one lens was on my person and as a consequence not stolen.
