Exclusively we bring you news of the first sighting of Kestrel, an exciting new 32 metre motor sailing yacht on sea trials off Bodrum in Turkey
Designed by Ron Holland in conjunction with interior styling by McWhirter Morris and Kestrel Superyachts, the 32.5 metre Kestrel specifically sets out to match the desires of an entire family and not just the sailing enthusiasts among them.
She is designed has to satisfy the sailing enthusiast, but shares stability, comfort and living spaces to ensure non-sailing guests enjoy themselves equally.
Built in Turkey, she has a beam of 6.74 m and a draught of 2.9 m with a waterline length of 21.65 m and full displacement of 107.5 tonnes.
A large lead filled bulb at the bottom of her keel provides stability and resistance to heeling and her white sail area is 519 sq m.
Built in aluminium, she is comprehensively equipped throughout. The semi-custom design allows for changes to layout, interior design, keel configuration and rig options. She is built to RINA and MCA LY2 requirements.
The first boat is ketch rigged, and is virtually complete and now undergoing sea trials off Bodrum.
Holland has used a classic flared clipper bow in order to retain high volume above and below deck in the forward section of the hull without detrimental effect on the underwater shape. This has allowed for the provision of a substantial forward VIP suite, along with 2 guest cabins and an owner’s suite aft.
On deck the yacht is as much about entertaining as sailing. Locations of sail handling and steering systems are designed to have minimal impact on the owners and guests.
The convertible cockpit has laterally sliding seat pods and tables that allow repositioning of these elements to create either a large party space, a conventional linear cockpit, or an al fresco dining space for 12 guests.
