Things are coming along a pace in Fiji when it comes to yachting. Not only is Australian property magnate Lang Walker the owner of the superyacht Kokomo planning to soft-open his first ever resort project in Fiji we now learn that construction to creating a yacht haven will shortly begin on Nawi Island in Savusavu.

David Jamieson of Asia Pacific Superyachts in Fiji said, “Cruising the idyllic waters of Fiji brings you to a friendly destination that is known for it caring and warm heritage, giving visiting superyachts a remote cruising experience full of adventure and wonderful experiences.”

The Nawi Island Resort project will contain 166 yachting berths including 10 superyachts. The marina will accommodate vessels from 10m to 60m in length with power and water to all berths. Fuelling facilities for diesel and petrol, fire service pedestals, waste water pump out, ferry/taxi pontoon, a Marina Office, Cafe/Bar and convenience store with chandlery will be available.

The Kokomo Yaukuve Island Resort on Yaukuve Island, part of the Kadavu Island Group is surrounded by the world famous Great Astrolabe Reef and is set to officially open in 2016.

It will have five villas and 21 bungalows on the beach, in addition to a luxury day spa, kids club, tennis court, large communal pool, movie/theatre lounge and walking trails.

Originally set to be an Aman Resorts property, Walker rescued the project as it lay undeveloped as a result of the financial crisis but is clearly now keen to splash the cash. He has just splashed out on a new Twin Otter seaplane to ferry guests to the six-star 57-hectare resort.
