Dutch Yacht Builder to Digitally Transform its Operations

The Dutch shipbuilder Damen who build Amels Superyachts and Sea Axe Support Shadow yachts for the superyacht sector have choosen a specialist 3DExperience platform to digitally transform its operations

Dassault Systèmes, will use its experiences to improve collaboration, optimise existing products, processes and services, and accelerate the delivery of innovative and configurable yachts, ships and support craft.

The French based company says its industry solutions “Designed for Sea,” “Winning Bid for Sea,” “Optimized Production for Sea,” and “On Time to Sea” integrate sales, marketing, design, engineering, manufacturing and services.

They will supply the shipyards with a single digital environment that connects requirements, regulations and project planning with full traceability. Teams can capture and reuse existing data across all business units, handle design changes with high reactivity, plan manufacturing early in the design process, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver ships on time and on cost. The aim is that Damen Shipyards can then more efficiently manage programs and product portfolios to support after-sales services and the launch of new products.

Aart Rupert, CIO, Damen Shipyards, which operates 32 shipyards and 9,000 employees, says, “Following a thorough analysis of marketplace solutions, we selected Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience platform to execute our digital strategy and add value to our business. Their portfolio of M&O improves and supports collaboration and operational performance across group, to better serve our customers worldwide.”
