Hampshire based centenarian Dennis Rawkins showed that age was no barrier to having fun when he took controls of a powerboat to become the oldest passenger yet to drive Wetwheels a specially adapted boat.

It is even possible that Dennis could be the oldest person in the world ever to drive a powerboat.

The 100 year old from Stubbington, drove the 600 horsepower boat at speeds approaching 35 knots in the Solent exclaiming he was “loving it”.

Geoff Holt MBE Founder and CEO of Wetwheels, the company that operates the boat commented; “It is difficult to believe he is that old, we are very proud that he allowed us to share his birthday celebrations on the boat and it is easy to see how he inspires others to enjoy life.”

After the boat trip, Dennis was presented with a birthday cake made by crew member, Karen Read.
