Analia, Classic Yacht Restoration

Built during the 1930’s at the Berthon Shipyard in the UK, Analia is now owned by an experienced and sympathetic Spanish owner, who asked Iñigo Toledo from Barracuda Yacht Design to help with a gradual restoration and improvements programme, which began last winter.

The ongoing restoration has been an interesting and thoroughly enjoyable journey for us, and one that is still not complete!
Based at the Port Ginesta Marina, south of Barcelona, a number of major structural and onboard systems improvements were carried out, including a full hull planking refit with an epoxy sealing system, which gave added strength and completely eliminated leaks.
Barracuda Yacht Design were also involved in designing and overseeing various deck hardware upgrades, a new anchor system, conversion to full A/C power, underwater lighting, new en-suite crew quarters, new guest cabin and a redesign of the technical rooms.

Thankfully, it wasn’t a case of all work and no play this year, because Analia’sowner had already committed the yacht to a number of high-profile classic yacht regattas this season, including the Puig Regatta, Ramón Peña Trophy and the Panerai Regatta, at which both Iñigo Toledo and Robin Imaz from Barracuda Yacht Design were able to join in on some of the racing, as invited guests of the owner.

During this winter’s lay-up period, Analia will be based at Marina Badalona in Barcelona where Barracuda will be involved with performance improvements to the Sail Plan and redesigned bow-sprit, in readiness for even greater speed at next year’s classic yacht regattas.
