Books About Yachting Can Be Wise Investments

Welcoming guests to the Camper & Nicholson annual pre Monaco Boat Show cocktail party, Mr George Nicholson, the firms Non Executive Chairman, spoke fondly of his company’s history.
During his nostalgic speech he spoke of a book that detailed the rise of the oldest name in yachting, and said that in little over ten years since it was published in London during 2001 that book had become a collectors item.
Entitled Camper and Nicholson: 200 Years of Yacht Building it is written by Ian Dear and was used by the company as a promotional give away gift to clients and would be customers.
The hardback book contains 282 pages and is profusely illustrated in colour throughout.

It details company history from its founding in Gosport during 1782

It records the design and construction pointing towards how the firm’s production has mirrored the history of yachting-steam yachts, skimming dishes, humble cruising ketches, the magnificent J-Class, experimental metre boats, sleek modern motor yachts, GRP sailing boat classes

It includes a shipyard register and design list by Jeremy Lines.
Believe it or not that book given away free is now availablefor sale at around US$500 and if that does not get you running to your book case to check out your yachting titles nothing will.
